Newberry Springs, Ca to Kingman, Az - Sept 3rd - Day 3

Day 3 proved to have some interesting sights along the road.  We are learning as we go how to do this trip.  One of the things we learned on this day is that we should have stopped and turned around for pictures.  We missed having pictures of great "public art" along the highway from Amboy to Essex.  There was a "shoe tree" which was a scrub with all kinds of shoes hanging from it.  We also missed taking a picture of a long dirt burm in the dessert where hundreds of travelers have written their names and made designs with rocks, bottles, etc. along the road.  We felt like we needed to cross into Arizona to feel like we were actually making progess. There is so much to see with what seems like so little time. We also didn't take pictures in Oatman, Arizona where Jay said he had his best cheese hamburger yet at the Oatman Hotel and Cafe and where burros roam around the town freely. We met a great couple in Oatman who were traveling from East to West on the Route 66 and they were from Alabama, my home state.  We even had lunch with them at the Oatman Hotel and swapped information.
